Increased Protection for Algonquin Park!
With the help of members like you, we have now been able to increase protection in Algonquin. The province has announcedUltimately we want to see Algonquin protected like all other 631 parks in the province and
have logging phased out over time,
with a plan to diversify local economies that have
depended in the past on logging. The next step will be to amend the Park Management Plan to finalize this increase.
Send a message to the Premier. Let him know your thoughts about more protection for Algonquin.

More Action Needed
Even though it's illegal in Ontario's 630 protected areas , the province is still willing to turn a blind eye to logging in our oldest and most revered Park. With less then 10% of Ontario protected, the province continues to treat Canada's oldest Provincial Park as an Industrial zone.
From our meetings with the government in October 2008, we know that they are working to increase the protection in Algonquin. We also know they can reduce the logging footprint without affecting the wood supply to companies. It's time to get on with it. We need to give Algonquin the legal protection that the other 630 protected areas in Ontario enjoy.
Let the Premier know how you feel. We'll make it easy. Fill in your name, postal code and e-mail address and we will send the following letter on your behalf. Letters sent from Ontario will also be copied to your MPP.
